Spring!

YAY! It's finally March! Spring is coming! In my world, the turn of the month from February to March signals the end of winter and beginning of "pre-spring" weather! LOL I'm now fully sick of snow and watching intently for the slightest swelling of buds on the trees. Spring is such an exciting time for me - I love to watch the world wake up from it's winter slumber and start blooming joyously in the sunshine. And today is Saturday, and today is sunshiny, and today is glorious! Yay!

A quick update on the hairloss thing - my hair appears to have stopped shedding now. I think it stopped about a month ago - so the first of February. I got it cut in layers, with the back still shoulder length. That helped to pouf it up on top, but made it kind of see-through in the long parts. However, adding mousse or root pump helps to thicken the hairs and make it appear fuller. It doesn't look too bad now, and hopefully, it will start to come back in soon. It might already be doing that - I have a few shorties appearing on top - it's either new growth or just my dry, crunchy hair breaking off! Haha!

I'm feeling like this is going to be a good year. Things are starting to look up in my world. I'm getting a better hold of the finances as the economy improves. What a scary time we're living in. I was applying to start a Masters program this summer or fall, but now I think I am going to push it out to next Spring. I'm trying to do too many new things all at once and I'm getting overwhelmed. I need some time to just sit back and smell the flowers for a while. Another big deal thing I'm doing this year is being on the Board of Directors for my Townhome association. I have already served on the board for the past 16 months as a non-voting member, but now I'll be an elected official for the next year. Not sure which role yet - our election meeting is in a few days and all will be decided there. I wish I could say I'm excited about this, but I'm really not. I'm only doing it for another year because there was no one else willing. If someone else came along, I'd step aside. But, for what it's worth, it will be good experience and will look great on my resume!

Back to the Masters program - I'm looking at a program in Professional Communication, and a second program in Creative Non-fiction/Poetry. I would prefer the latter but will probably do the former as it is a better subject for career increases. I really want to improve my writing skills so I can publish - that's something I want to do for my soul - not necessarily because it will make me a lot of money. Money would be nice though! :)

A moment on knitting - I've started attending a weekly evening knitting group with some friends in my neighborhood. I'm having so much fun! It's relaxing and gets me out of the house, AND I'm making something useful for myself or someone else. I'm hoping knitting gets to be the obsession for me that beading has been for the past few decades. Not that I really need another reason to start obsessively collecting anything else! I signed up to do the Beading-for-a-cure project this year. My bead kit should be arriving any day now - I'm really excited to see the beads and figure out what I will make with them.

And finally - biking! I got my bike tires pumped up this morning - I'm all set to embark on my new routine of cycling! I want to work up to a century ride - probably not this year, but next. I used to love cycling, but got away from it. Now that I've lost some weight, I'm really excited to get back into it, and am hoping to find some new friends with whom I can ride. I bought a smokin' bike two summers ago and have only ridden it one time, so it's time to dust it off and get rolling! Yay! Go ME!!
